Rust on gardening tools compromises their appearance and functionality. Unfortunately, rust is inevitable.

But fortunately, there’s a Simple Solution!


Materials Needed

  • Cloth or towel
  • White vinegar
  • Garbage bag
  • Baking soda
  • Wire brush

The Solution

To begin, soak your cloth or towels in white vinegar — make sure they are saturated.

Then, wrap your gardening tool in those cloths, place the tool in a plastic garbage bag, and let it soak for at least 18 hours.

Next, remove the garbage bags and cloth. While the tool is still wet with vinegar, pour baking soda onto it and scrub it with a wire brush.

Finally, use the cloth to wipe off the tool. Now, you’re left with a shiny, like-new gardening tool. Apply some lubricant before using it again to ensure it stays rust-free for longer.
